Prof. Or has been involved in the field of transplantation medicine since the early 1980’s. The knowledge he obtained has allowed him to be involved in developing ground breaking research strategies and novel treatment techniques for cancer immunotherapy.
During his time in Hadassah, he has established a research laboratory that develops and is involved in several clinical trials a year, and directs the ambulatory day care center in order to provide continuity of care for patients following transplant. He currently resides as the Director of the Department of BMT, Cancer Immunotherapy, Cell Therapy, Transplantation and Research Center; The Medical Director of the Hadassah Volunteer Bone Marrow Registry, and the Israeli National Public Umbilical Cord Blood Bank. In 2008, Professor Or was awarded the prestigious Menachem Begin Prize for his work in establishing two major national medical projects: the stem cell and the umbilical blood banks. Prof. Or’s dedication, empathy, and genuine care for each individual who walks through his department, has earned the respect of both colleagues and patients.
